Social media marketing company IZEA offers its idea with the launch of SponsoredTweets.com. The new marketplace promises to connect advertisers with popular Tweeters to help promote products, services, and websites via the micro-blogging service Twitter.

The site provides cash compensation to Tweeters in exchange for sharing messages with their followers.

Using a self-service portal, marketers can choose the individual Tweeters most appropriate for their target audience based on the Tweeter’s profile, follower stats, and typical subject of their Tweets.

Advertisers can provide Tweeters with high-level instructions or pre-selected messages. Tweeters have the ability to accept or decline each individual offer from an advertiser.

“This service enables marketers to leverage the growing power of Twitter through micro sponsorships,” said Ted Murphy, CEO and founder of IZEA. “Our platform can reach an enormous captive audience with unique, targeted messages delivered within a user’s Twitter timeline.”

The network, says the company, currently comprises about 2,500 Tweeters, including television and movie stars, rock stars and noteworthy socialites, as well as influential bloggers and subject matter experts.
