Websites that Go to Sleep Mode
I was always under the impression that a website keeps working all 24 hours everyday and you can access it anytime from any part of the world. With this understanding, I bought a website in June 2008 from a Jaipur-based web hosting company, ZNet India. As ZNet India claimed that it’s “India’s Top Listed & Microsoft Recommended Hosting Co.” and “An ISO 9001: 2000 Certified Co.”, I paid the advance money that the company asked and bought website space/service from it for one year.

But soon I realized that this company is trying to give a new definition to websites and online services. My site (www.mytechboxonline.com), which is supposed to work round-the-clock, stops working and frequently goes into deep hibernation as if it’s sleeping or in a sleep mode.

I was obviously confused and was unable to digest the fact that my site for which I have already paid advance money to the company is working almost like a 9 a.m.-5 p.m. bakery. Under this confusion, I kept asking the company to bring the site back to normal working condition. But this company has been throwing lame excuses on my face – which vary from hard disk or server crash to its datacenter being out of order.

That’s not all. I was painfully amazed to see the height of impudence with which its support staff works. After every hour they will tell you that it will take one hour to bring their server back to working condition. They will keep giving you all sorts of false assurances and wrong commitments almost from morning to late night, but will never be able to give you proper service. At last, you have no other option but to sleep as your site keeps sleeping, thanks to ZNet India.

This company fails to realize that other companies and people like me – and thus our families – could be dependent on its services, as our Internet-based work is our livelihood. And ZNet’s poor services can throw small businesses like mine out of work. This is not a corporate wrong but virtually a sin that only cruel souls can commit.

However, all my pleas to ZNet India have fallen on deaf ears. And it keeps running its online business – which is required to be always on – like a lazy government office. When I am not being heard despite my repeated requests, I am forced by this company to use my blog to voice my persisting pains.

Moreover, if this company is telling the truth that it’s “India’s Top Listed & Microsoft Recommended Hosting Co.”, I fail to understand how a big company like Microsoft recommend such a bad service to innocent consumers and become part of this cheating business.

Now I do not know what’s the escape route for me to come out of the cruel hands of ZNet India. I am totally trapped.

Today (Oct. 13) again I’m not able to upload my data on the site and despite my requests to the company, it’s not able to solve the problem.

Friends, please come forward for my rescue and suggest me a remedy for the pains that I have been suffering because of this tainted web hosting service provider.
