Nokia MOSHNokia Targets Mobile Advertising
Nokia announced Wednesday the launch of the Nokia Advertising Alliance, which aims to simplify mobile advertising for brand advertisers.  The program will bring together mobile marketing solutions, including couponing, location-based targeting, image recognition, and other emerging technologies, to offer advertisers an option to increase consumer engagement. The company says that now brands can work with Nokia to combine the reach of mobile advertising on the Nokia Media Network with the latest mobile technologies for ad campaigns.

Members of the Alliance are integrated with the Nokia Media Network, allowing brands to plan, execute, and measure mobile advertising campaigns through a single Nokia interface. A number of companies have been initially certified as Members of the Alliance. They including i-movo, Mobile Acuity, Mobiqa, and uLocate, with additional members in testing.

In another development Nokia Nseries announced it’ll be the exclusive telecom sponsor of the Young Lions Film Competition aimed at supporting and nurturing young talent in the advertising industry. Each of the creative teams in the film segment will be provided with a Nokia Nseries handset with which to shoot their entry in this famous annual competition. While the teams shoot their stories, Nokia will collect footage to produce regular video blogs highlighting teams in action at www.nseries.com/cannes.

In addition, the footage will be used for a “behind the scenes” documentary that will be televised globally later on.

I was at Cannes Lion 2008 covering the action during the Young Lions Film Competition. It was amazing to witness the creative process during those crazy 48 hours.

The gold-winning viral video was made by the team from Argentina, with USA capturing the silver and Italy the bronze. The brief was to support MTV Switch and the viral pieces the teams produced (all shot on the Nokia N95) address eco friendly actions people can engage in.

Here’s a recap video about Team Argentina (Gold Winners):
