First Second Life Film
The production company, Submarine, says that from today it’ll show the first documentary completely filmed in Second Life: ‘Molotov Alva and His Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey’ in ten episodes on: http://www.molotovalva.com.

Developed by California-based Linden Lab, Second Life leverages 3-D Internet concepts to create virtual worlds in which users can interact with each other by creating animated avatars.

The production is a compilation of ten video diaries made by Molotov Alva, who disappeared off the face of the earth in January 2007, only to re-appear subsequently in Second Life. The diaries form the basis of the documentary directed by Douglas Gayeton.

The first episode of the documentary series was launched on video-sharing site YouTube.

Dutch production company Submarine has sold the television rights for the North American territories to American broadcaster HBO. It’s believed that this is the first time that a film that premiered on YouTube is bought by a major television channel.

‘Molotov Alva and His Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey’ is claimed to be the first MiniMovie in a series of eight documentaries produced specifically for online video channels, iPods, and mobile phones. The documentary will be broadcast by VPRO television and Dutch digital channel Holland Doc in August 2008.
